NEWBORN FAQ

When should my newborn session be scheduled?

It is encouraged to book your session during your second trimester in order to reserve your date.  I accept a LIMITED amount of clients per month and recommend that you reserve your session in advance to ensure the availability.  The ideal time to photograph a newborn is within the first 10 days of life, with 5-8 days being the best time.  During this time period the babies feeding and sleep patterns have been established, and more importantly, they still have that precious sleepy, dreamy, and curled up state that make the pictures look so yummy!

How long will my newborn session last?

Newborn sessions usually last from 2-3 hours, depending on the temperament of your little one.  This also allows time for feeding and changing.

What should I do if my baby is over three weeks of age?

After three weeks of age babies become  less sleepy, tend to stretch out more rather than curl up, and are less flexible.  This make it more difficult to achieve those sleepy, cuddly poses that all us parents love.   As much as I’m sure you would hate to wait to take pictures, my professional advice would be to wait until approximately 4 months when your little one is able to push up on their tummy and hold up their head, or around 6 months when they can sit up on their own.

Where is your studio located?

My studio is located at 8567 N. Silverbell Rd. Tucson AZ 85743.

What is the questionnaire and contract for?

The questionnaire provides the opportunity for clients to express ideas and goals for their session, and will help me be sure to select colors and accessories based on your preferences.  The contract is in place to protect both the client and the studio, and is required to be completed prior to your photo session.

Who can I bring to my photo session?

Ashley Elicio Photography welcomes and encourages both parents to participate in the photo session.  If there are brothers and sisters in the family, they are welcome as well for no additional fee.  Please be advised that siblings under the age of 3 are not always excited about a new baby and may not be interested in being a part of the session. Because of this, I ask that siblings be brought to the session an hour and a half after the session begins.

Can I take my own pictures during the session?

I respectfully request that you do not take your own pictures during the session.  This will prove to be a great distraction for me and I want to make sure I maintain complete focus on your baby.

What do I need to bring to my newborn session?

I have accumulated quite the closet of baby props, hats and headbands.  If there are a few specific items or outfits that you would like to incorporate into the shoot, feel free to bring those as well.  In addition, if bottle feeding, please bring enough formula to last for at least 6 hours, as well as sufficient pampers and other supplies you would normally travel with for a newborn.

How soon do I get to see my newborn photos?

Approximately 2-3 weeks from your session we will meet in person to reveal your gallery.  You will be able to select your collection and products at this time.
